After stepping away from a 20-year television career, I felt rudderless and without a purpose, for the first time in a long time. I had driven myself to achieve big career goals in Aotearoa and America, but it was all external, and a lot of it had been to the detriment of my physical and mental health. I decided to put the focus on the internal, do a little ‘ME-Search,’ if you will!
I got curious and made myself a human guinea pig. I started experimenting with different wellness practices, looking for solutions to what I was struggling with. Whether it was the constant buzz of digital distraction, or not waking up feeling well-rested (the adult’s never-ending Journey). As I looked deeper, I realised there were a lot of these basic things that I’d put on the back burner as I charged forward, building a career. And I knew that if I felt that way, there were thousands of people who did as well.
